Leading them to their destiny!

What an amazing group of kids!  We had many moments throughout the day today when we just stopped what we were doing an appreciated the moment.  How many 7 & 8 year old's can do that and truly appreciate nature and their surroundings?  We had our usual circle time in the middle of the prairie, most kids sharing how happy they were to just be there.  All of us agreed if we could, we would just have school there everyday.  We dreamed about what we could graph in math, what animals we could observe and what it would be like to be IN the prairie everyday.
As we hiked through the woods, we came upon a pioneer cemetery.  The students were all so quiet and respectful.  We paused to consider how life was different for the settlers in the 1870's.  As we left Celeste gave a sweet wave and told them goodbye.

There were many moments throughout the day like that sweet wave from Celeste.  I don't know who was behind me as I hiked up the big hill, but a boy was talking about his destiny.  Someone else shouted, "She's leading us to our destiny!"  with such feeling it brought tears to my eyes.  What amazing, thoughtful kids you have all trusted to me.  This is a special group.  Thank you parents for letting me have this time with them.  I feel pretty blessed.
